Could AI trigger a World War ?

According to SIPRI Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)- if nuclear weapons are finally handed over to AI- the result could be devastating.
At one point human intervention might be left behind and AI's speed might go ahead.This could lead to an accidental nuclear war.
Previously human judgement had the opportunity to intervene.
It was Stanislav Petrov's decision in the year 1983 that checked a false alarm considering faulty missile warning.
In AI driven system such human intervention may probably have little or no scope at all!
