A story ?
After watching the film Bhuter Bhabishwatyat I suddenly remembered
a long forgotten story -heard from one of my friends. It was like this:-
A young man who belonged to a Zamindar family, took his friends to
visit his nearly abandoned ancestor's Palace near Murshidabad. It was,
of course, not in good shape as it used to be before the abolition of
Zamindari.
There was a big portrait at the center of the large corridor-it was the
portrait of his great grandfather -with a big mustache and a stern Royal
look. This young man ,actually, previously decided to play pranks with
his three friends , who accompanied him. His idea was to tell them a
cock and bull story and create an environment of suspense. He told a
thrilling story about the man in the portrait and finally ended up -giving
an impression that his ghost is sometime seen walking along the corridor
at midnight.
To make his plan successful he conspired with the caretaker-who was to
dress and act like his ancestor, of course , with that big mustache and roam
along the corridor at midnight.
At the right time he cooked up a story about his great grandfather and created
the required suspense. They grew nervous as midnight was already there !(It
must be remembered that there was no electricity & the single hurricane light
was lowered)
When midnight really struck the entire suspense already reached its highest.
And when they finally saw the ghost walking along the corridor -it was too
much for them . They lost their consciousness !
Finding his plan very successful the young man ran up stair to congratulate
the caretaker for his wonderful acting. He found him lying unconscious before
the mirror. After sprinkling water he regained himself but looked flabbergasted.
The story he related was horrible as well as fearful !
Just before midnight when he was fixing the great mustache -he saw a face
through the mirror -standing near the open door, watching him sternly.
He was the man in the portrait !!
wow ...... It is really thrilling..... Great story.. Mamababu. !!!!
