Forgetful dogs !

When we are too tired we usually say 'Please don't disturb me I am dog tired." When circumstances are normal life goes on normally. Unfortunately present times are not as it used to be. All due to Covid19 and it's prolonged grasp on humanity. Even trained Police dogs are showing signs of forgetfulness. During training some of them, instead of running, are slowing down. Often these dogs are so exausted that they lie down mid way instead of running. These Police dog's training were kept in abeyance for nearly 8 months- thus showing signs of slowing down, forgetting lessons learnt during their training period . Some are even suffering from indigestion, diarrhea etc.

Extreme Brutality !

'It is the cause, it is the cause my Soul,' The above line quoted from William Shakespeare's 'Othello' seems seems sufficient to explain the death of Desdemona. She was a pure soul 'Yet she must die'. But what makes me uncomfortable and pains my sense are certain News that are exposed in Newspapers/Magazines. Maybe just to make it sensational or boost the Publication's sale they are brutally forced upon us -probably finding us easy preys. After reading the news of a serial killer killing 18 women one doesn't feel that all is well with the present humanity ! The man simply lost his sanity after finding his newly married wife leaving for another. The Hyderabad man to take revenge sorted out lonely or single woman. After winning their confidence he intoxicated them with liquor and raped & finally killed them! Isn't it extreme brutality ?

First Bengali Sitarist !

Indian Classical Music still plays an important part in some of the North Calcutta Houses. This particular house is popularly known as Chatu Babu Latu Babu's house. Chatu Babu (Ashutosh Deb)  is considered as the first Bengali Sitarist. Hence a program in Sitar is always given priority in every functions that the house organises !

Calcutta's Heritage Buildings.

Kolkata- especially North Kolkata- has a lot of historical buildings. These buildings are not only old but are also important for various other reasons. Some has historical importance while others for their unique architectural values.  One should be aware of these buildings and take desirable steps to protect and save them from the path of extinction. Although work is on to build awareness yet a major issue seems to encircle around financial problems. (To continue)

Honeybees in Airport !

Wherever the Queen Bee goes she is immediately followed by the males.  This time the Queen decided to board an Airplane maybe for a flight from Kolkata to Delhi! She was followed by her followers and a part of the Plane's body was soon occupied by them. The light coloured plane turned into patches of black. Usually with the arrival of winter their activity seems to grow. Hence next day , being a Monday, the same activity was seen in another plane. All efforts by spraying pesticides proved useless. Finally the Airport's Firebrigad was put into action which solved the problem.    The Authorities are trying to find out the source from where  these bees  may be coming from !

A Treetop Kitten !

Have anyone heard about Firebrigad trying their luck to bring down a kitten from a large mangoe tree ? Yes it certainly happened on Sunday when local people of Barrackpore were compelled to call the 'Domkol' to to rescue a kitten which went up the tree. It stayed there for three nights and gave no peace to the surrounding area. It meowed continuously and sort it's mother ! The mother gave birth to three  but  two of them were destroyed by a male. The third however escaped death and took shelter on the mangoe tree.  A man named Subroto Dasgupta tried to serve milk but it crouched further up the tree. When Subroto came down helplessly the kitten too came down a few branches lower and lapped up the milk. The firemen repeatedly tried to reach the kitten but failed. The higher they reached - the higher the pussy climbed. Finally they took the help of two stairs and reached the top.        Now finding no upper space the kitten came down and jumped upon a wall where her mother was

Was it a flying saucer ?

It happens that some thoughts suddenly creep up for no reason at all. It maybe some incident that happened several years ago . It can also be some mishap that came your way - without any warning- which upsets you and give you no rest - until it's resolved.  I would like to relate such an incident that occurred long time back. I was around 10 years of age and very fond of my brother who was a year or two elder. The bond between us was so strong that it was quite impossible for us to stay away from each other even for few minutes. It was around 1955 /1956 when we went to Galudih ( now in  Jharkhand) to spend a month. Our exams were over and hence our father decided to send the family there.  Just before the Cottage House -  where we stayed-there was a hillock which we used to call Nekre Pahar. We two brothers often  went  up to the top to get a clear view of the surroundings. We specially liked to see a pond just beside the hillock.  Once we saw a big round machine drawing water thro
