My daughter- not my son's wife !

It is almost like a fairly tale that occurred in Suchow city ! The occassion was the marriage ceremony of a chinese couple. When the rituals began for the ceremony the mother of the groom noticed some birthmark on the bride's hand. She immediately remembered such a mark in her daughter's hand. Some 20 years ago she lost the daughter in a fair. She tried to locate her in whatever ways she could but failed. At last she lost all hope and finally adopted the boy (the groom). Unable to resist her suspicion she asked the bride's father if she was her own daughter! The man nodded and revealed that he adopted her from a charityhome.  There was a lot of merriments as they came to know that  they were not from the same blood !!   The ceremony continued !!!

A sense of decency.

To be or not to be. Rather-to write or not to write. Probably it will sound foolish or-if I would like to be precise - quite careless. It all depends upon our personal sensetiveness which usually differs from person to person. I was standing in a queue for drawing money. There were at least 7/8 persons before in the said queue. While looking aimlessly hither and thither my eyes caught the cashier's dress. She was a young lady busy doing her job quite effeciently. The fan was just over her head running at full speed as it was quite hot. The  front button of the lady's shirt got unknowingly opened and all eyes were forced to notice this.  I couldn't take it any longer as my sense of decency compelled me to request the lady -standing  before me- to alert the cashier. Surprisingly  the lady (40/45 yrs  old) started smiling and  denied my request. Her excuse was that the young lady might feel insulted and humiliated!! Later I discussed the matter with my wife and -more surprisin

A tiger attack!

Yesterday a tiger suddenly pounced upon a fisherman near Bhubaneshwar village. It all happened when Shankar & his wife Jostna were fishing in their country boat. They were rowing beside the forest when a tiger attacked Shankar. Finding the tiger dragging him deep into the forest-his wife Jostna -took a stick and tried to save him. The tiger gripped him by his neck & chest. Nevertheless Jostna kept hitting with the stick wherever she could. It was useless and the  tiger  kept it's hold on Shankar. In desperation Jostna now caught the tiger's ear and pulled as hard as she could. Fortunately this produced the required result. Shankar was  released and the tiger went  deeper into the forest. The villegers immediately took him to a Kolkata nursing home for his treatment.

A Zoo Lion attacks !

It happened once again in the Kolkata Zoo. The previous occasion was when a  man, probably drunk, slipped into the tiger's  enclosure. The perplexed tiger paused for few moments while the man folded his hands as if asking for mercy.  Acording to its instinct it pounced upon the man and dragged him by the throat to the furthest corner. The man finally died after being severely mauled. Yesterday more or less the same thing happened.  This time the man willfully crossed the barriers. He simply jumped from a steep height and wounded himself. On the next instance he crawled towards a  surprised lion. He too was mauled  but- thanks to the officials & securities,   was saved and hospitalized !

A Teacher's cry !

Few years back a student of mine, whom I used to teach English, came to visit me. She was around 16/17 years old when she last attended my class. Her father was in Railways service (probably an officer).     He occassionally picked up  conversation and we spent some time together. He was not only in service but had his own business in export too. He fared quite well but often worried about his daughter. She was his only daughter who would have to look after his business in future. He found his daughter quite immature and unfit for such responsibility. His wife too was not up to the mark as far as maturity was concerned. It was after Durga Puja (Bijoya Doshumi) when she suddenly appeared after a long absence. She has now turned into a young and extremely beautiful lady. Her mother accompanied her but she looked old and worn out! In the meanwhile her father died  and lot of things have changed. She was no longer an immature little girl but a fully grown up young lady with 100% maturity.

Toying with cancer !

He still has a long way to go. He is popular, well behaved and handsome as well. We all love and enjoy his company.  I suddenly came to know that he was detected with cancer. Fortunately it was in its early stage and-as the doctor says- quite curable. It will take around 15 days in hospital after the operation. He could be back by then and would be able to lead a normal life ! Strangely he is unwilling to go for any kind of treatment !      Money is no problem for him  yet he is denying all our  requests. At present he  has opted for Homeopathy knowing fully well about the consequences, At times he confesses  that he has lost his will to live any longer, Wonder if he is aware of the pains suffered by a throat cancer patient !!
