The Friday Man!

Image
"My entire life circulated around Fridays".Such was the statement he often uttered.I never met the guy as he never existed in my life.Yet somehow his acts and words seemed to have stirred me up when I first heard about him. We used to meet in a nearby park every friday. His name was Ranjeet and we two were friends for a long time.It was Ranjeet who first said the Friday story. Jeevan was his childhood friend. He lived near a Temple which was beside Ranjeet's house. One day when they were seated on the Temple's floor Jeevan suddenly started behaving strangely. He seemed to be in an unbearable pain! Girish Chunder Deb.

He died at a very young age.Like any other young men he too was a very restless person.Born in a renowned Zamindar's family of Calcutta he married thrice. Unfortunately he had no children and this perhaps made him desperate and dauntless. He was fond of thoroughbred horses, especially Arabian horses. That was probably the cause of his death. He fell off and died while riding the fastest horse at top speed!

Call of the Crane!

Image
A close friendship developed between a man and a crane bird. It all began when Muhammad Arif (35) a farmer from Amethi found the bird wounded. He felt pity and took the bird in his house. He put turmeric and lime in its wounded leg and tied a stick a around the leg. After two weeks the crane was able to walk & fly comfortably. In the meanwhile. an attachment developed between them.Throughout the day the crane lived in the forest but returned back to Arif during dinner. A News channel took up the matter and showed it elaborately for viewers.Thereby people flocked around Arif and the bird to witness the bondage.Akhilesh Jadav, an opposition party member, too felt interested. He visited the place, took some photographs and put the matter in a social website. Hensforth The UP Forest Department's Officials got the scent. Finally Arif was called to the office. The bird was sent to Raibareli Reserve Forest. This Saturday it was sent to it's final destination-Kanpur Zoo !

Value of life!

Image
Not an abnormal situation as we have almost got used to it. Yet when things happen just before your eyes and you are compelled to witness it, without any options, what should one do! Like any other day, I was taking my morning walk along the central avenue.People were busy with their daily chores and everything was as normal as any other given day. Suddenly there was a loud screeching sound and all heads turned towards the road ahead. A small girl, sorry a baby, shocked by the sound froze on the spot.It looked around amusingly at the big bus. There was no fear in the baby's eyes.It even tried to grab the bus's big tyre. Little did it bother about the tensed crowd. On looking around for it's parents we weren't shocked to find it's mother fast asleep on the footpath beside a tent. That too is nothing unusual! Thought I.

Guilt unforgotten!

Image
How could a feeling of guilt suddenly haunt you after several several years have past. After passing almost all the phases of Life how? How? After an afternoon nap I was just awaking when, from nowhere, a guilt of past pounced upon me. I was around 9/10 years when along with my parents, brothers and only sister we went to a big garden near Dumdum. During those days very few people lived there and we used to call it a forest in our childhood days.It also had a big lake at the center and a small tile house at one side. Gofurmia was the caretaker who used to climb the trees easily and pluck few coconuts for us.Our paternal uncle too kept a watchful eyes on us. I,however, was after a big fat hen surrounded by her fluffy chicks. In my eyes the chiks looked like little fairies-so cute and so soft.Suddenly their mother would move quickly to catch a worm or fly. The chicks would immediately follow. I was mesmerized by their small innocent round eyes. How I would like to have at least one of
