It is a past era about which very few are aware or interested.Yet the walks organised by various organizatiozs shows that history conscious men & women are not only interested but are quite passionate to know in details about the goneby era. Those who worked for the zamindars too were men of steal and seldom betrayed their masters. The old photo of a bawarchi named Dhanmanya was a very favorite cook of a zamindar in Beadon Street.Ojha, Kalpana, Ambika,Jagadish were the caretakers of the Thakurbari while Sanaatan was the head priest whose son Shyamsundar too sometime looked after Pujas. There were others like Satyanarayan,Ramji etc who used to collect rent from the prajas. There were the zamindar's wrestlers too .Shukla was the head Pahalwaan under whome were others. Tewari too a pahalwaan took care of the zamindar's garden. One thing was common among these men-they were all more than 6 feet in height. They had a Villa in Belgatchia where the Hathisala was. These elephants came

Elephants hinder schools.

Four persons are reportedly killed by elephants.Nearly 82 of them came from West Midanapur.Their presence created panic in Bankura where at this moment a herd of 72 elephants are still present. The authorities are trying to move the herd from there towards a far off area. Fear has gripped the students and their guardians who have stopped them from going to schools.Even some schools have decided to remain closed till things are normal. Considering the Secondary Examination knocking at the door some students are seen cycling towards schools that are still having classes. They are forced to form a group while travelling for the sole purpose of safety!

Fast vs slow food.

I had a friend whoes name was Alfred. He was a kind of introvert though it never mattered to me since I loved him to my heart's content. We were both fond of loitering. During those days fast food shops were not very popular. They were mostly restricted to office areas.I used to run rather than walk. On the reverse Alfred used to walk at a slow pace.I had the tendency to finish things rapidly while my friend took a long time to complete the same job. I could still remember that day when we two went to Dalhousie to get some job done.My friend Tapas & Ashim established their new business in that area and requested me have a look at their new office. After visiting their office we felt quite hungry and decided to have some street food.and.I ordered some fast food and asked Alfred to order according to his choice He looked around and thought for a while. Finally he decided to have some snails.I quickly finished and threw my Sal plate in the dustbin. When I looked at my friend's

Grandfather Clock vs Wrist Watch.

As far as l could remember his name was Subhash Roy Chowdhury. It was during those days when one could not stay away with one's friend for even an hour. We both hung around each other whenever we got the slightest opportunity. Subhash lived in a big house near Shyambazar. It was not a house but a mansion.Their ancestors were probably zamindars. In every corners could be found old furnitures, marble statues, antiques etc. One day,it was around night 11pm, when Subhash suddenly called upon me. My room was at a calling distance as l lived in the first floor of the common passage.Since l was fast asleep by that time l failed to respond. However after several calls I finally woke up. During those days 11pm night was considered as midnight.Hence I wondered what brought my friend to call upon me at such late hours. I would like to relate here that l was in Purulia for the last three months and had no news of my friend Subhash.I was at a loss to know that bad times have fallen upon the family
